In order to make Game-Art more efficient, we have updated the rules below so that when you apply for group membership, or you try to submit something, you know exactly what you need to do. Please keep in mind that submissions or requests may not be accepted instantly, as we have a voting process. This can take up to a few days, so please be patient. (This is also true of submissions, so please keep that in mind!)

FOR GROUP MEMBERSHIP:

In order to join Game-Art, you must have some portfolio pieces that you can show us. PLEASE DO NOT SEND US FANART, only original game art concepts/official work! We accept all levels of art, so long as it's original, and fits within the rest of our rules/guidelines. To apply, simply put the links in your group membership application, along with why you'd like to join the group.

If, for some reason, you are rejected, 99% of the time, it is because you did not provide portfolio pieces! It is YOUR responsibility to provide links and show us that you're willing to abide by the group rules, regardless if your art is in our gallery or not.  Please do not just send us a link to your entire gallery; 2-3 pieces should be just fine. TY!

SUBMISSIONS:

1 – Please note that we do not accept fanart! We ONLY accept ORIGINAL game art, unless it's official work that you were commissioned by the company to do, in which case you must state in the description of the submission that it is, in fact, official work.  THIS APPLIES TO EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE CATEGORIES.

2 – While we accept all levels of art, images must not be blurry, with hard-to-read text, that have visual vibration, lines through them, etc. In others words, you must have a good, clean presentation overall.

3 – We only accept fully completed work. If you'd like to submit something that is a WIP, please submit it to the Critiques Requested folder. (Please do not submit busts unless they are a 2D asset.)

4 – We only accept game-related work. This can be personal or school projects, named titles, video games, tabletop games, etc. While this should be fairly obvious, if you aren't sure, please feel free to ask for clarification, and we'd be more than happy to help you. PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT ART THAT IS NOT RELATED TO GAMES. Generic concept art will not be accepted!

5 – You can submit any number of submissions you like at any time, so long as they meet our quality standards. However, shots of the same thing will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

6 – We do not accept erotic work of any kind. Sexualized works will be on a case-by-case basis.

7 – You must own, or have permission to use, copyrighted logos/trademarks, etc.

8 – When submitting, please make sure that your submission goes to the right submission folder, and in the submission information/tags/category, make sure it's under game-related art, or it might be rejected.

9 - We do not accept pieces for contests, as this relates to fanart!

10 - All content must be original, with the exception of licensed assets. (If that is the case, please note it in your submission!) We do not accept simple recolors.

11 - Please mark your submission in the gaming category during the submission process, or tell us in the description of your deviation that it's for "X game" so that the submission process goes faster. We will not accept art that is NOT related to games, so if you don't tell us what it's for, your submission might not be accepted! (You can submit game-related art to the Portfolio section!)

GALLERY SUBMISSIONS:

FEATURED: Featured submissions are our best work! We like to highlight our members, though we do not accept submissions for this category specifically.

PORTFOLIO: For all game-related art that does not have a specific game/title that you are not selling, or giving out as a resource! Please submit your best work for this!

PLAYABLE GAMES: If you want to show off a game you've made, please feel free to do so. However, submissions in this category MUST have a link to the game in the description, or be downloadable. (Naturally, if it's a Flash submission, and you can play the game right there, this doesn't apply.) Please do NOT submit assets to this category; please use the opening title, or similar compilation of game images to submit!

2D ASSETS & PROPS: This category is for any 2D art that's not concept art. (3D models turned into sprites can be accepted here as well.) Basically, if you are using it in-game, or, you have 2D screenshots to share, this category is where you should submit them. (However, if you have made mockups that aren't made up of different assets, please submit them to the concept art category.) [You can also submit in-game portraits here.]

3D: We accept all types of 3D work; if you have several views to share, please submit them as one submission. All submissions must be fully textured/rendered/full models. (You can also share your 3D screenshots here.) If you have a Sketchfab account, please put a link in the description of your submission, and a still version of the image. (Yes, we have 3D embedding now, but this is for stills only!) Thank you!

CONCEPT ART - FULLY RENDERED: This can be any type of concept art, so long as it's colored/fully rendered/shaded, but no busts, full pieces only. (To clarify, if your game style is simplistic, but of high quality, you can still submit it here.) Please only submit your BEST WORK. If it's not, please submit it to Critique Requested. If we do not feel that it is up to our standards for this particular folder, we will ask you to submit it to the Critique Requested/WIP folder.

MUSIC: It's as simple as it sounds.

LITERATURE: It's as simple as it sounds. Please make sure that all submissions are easy-to-read, and in the English language.

RESOURCES AND TUTORIALS:  You can submit anything from videos, literature, etc., here. However, all content here must be FOR FREE!

RESOURCES FOR SALE: This is a new category! You may submit 1 submission per week to this category.

CRITIQUE REQUESTED: WIP's, Sketches, Concept Art : Any and all WIP's should go here, along with fully rendered pieces you need help with. Please also post concept art sketches here as well. You may post two per week. You may also submit 3D WIPs that are not full models if you're interested in a critique.

ORIGINAL MODS: Here you can post mods that you have made, sell, and redistribute to the general public. Please note that designs MUST be completely yours, NOT re-skins of models made by the game you're making them for.

PROMOTIONAL: Please submit all promotional material, such as splash screens/title art here. This is for COMPLETED/RELEASED GAMES.

VIDEOS: It's as simple as it sounds; all types of work from showing off your game to trailers are accepted, but they MUST be posted on DA---not a link!

JOURNALS: All journal submissions should be related to game art. You are free to post information about jams, or hiring, etc. So long as it has something to do with development, and is well written, we accept it. Note, however, that advertising for streams, group chats, websites, reviews, etc, do not fall under this category.

If you have any questions, are are confused, please feel free to ask below in the comments section!

Ok so where do we send this? Do we note you our application? And we aren't allowed to have watermarks on it? All my game art I make has watermarks all over it because of theft, because I am actually using them for a game I'm selling so I can't have anyone stealing them.
